The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to start on March 22, 2025, this is the 18th edition of this IPL and is world’s most celebrated T20 cricket tournament. The opening match will be a thriller match where the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face the fan favorite Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Opening Match No. 1 : KKR vs. RCB – March 22nd 2025
The opening match of IPL 2025 will be a banger to start the season in action, with KKR aiming to defend their title against the hungry RCB team. While RCB is still empty handed in terms of getting their title cup but it is the fa favorite.
While KKR, has clinched their 3rd IPL title in the last season, while Ajinkya Rahane is leading the team KKR and is expected to lead the team to hold the cup once again. . While RCB has chosen Rajat Patidar as their new leader in-charge, he is determined to secure their maiden IPL title and bring the end to their drought of trophy. The auction team has made acquisitions like the English opener Phil Salt to partner with the superstar Virat Kohli in the top order. The middle order is supported by power-hitters like Tim David, Liam Livingstone.
While the bowling department is backed by with the star players like Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and all rounder Krunal Pandya. While the veteran Former RCB star AB de Villiers is not part of any IPL team this year as he is retired from all for of international cricket including IPL.
